School Zone Publishing is a retail supply outlet for teachers, as well as at-home learning materials to help parents support supplement their children’s classroom instruction. They have fast emerged as the market leader in workbooks and flash cards for preschoolers through sixth graders. I teach third grade and I was sent a few things that I can use with my students.
First I received the Big Third & Fourth Grade Workbook. This is great for several reasons. I like using these activities for students who finish early or who might need some extra enrichment. The variety of activities is awesome. From reading comprehension to multiplication to word problems to social studies - it is all there! The 316 pages of skill-based activities are colorful and fun to read. Social studies and geography and geography lessons, and the occasional knock-knock joke add to the fun. Work on sentences and parts of speech. Develop critical thinking and creativity with an analogy test. Practice multiplication and division, complete spelling puzzles, word problems, and more! I will definitely be using this book throughout the school year!
I also received the Math War Multiplication Game Cards. You may not be aware that one of the biggest skills a third grader will learn in math is multiplication. They are excited to learn how to multiply, but a bit scared that it will be too hard. So the more fun you make it, the better! The Multiplication Math War Game is a fun and competitive way to help third, fourth and fifth graders practice their basic multiplication facts. Your child and a friend can play together, each flipping over cards and solving them. The player with the highest card value wins both cards. After a few rounds of this game, your child will be ready for those flash cards and timed tests at school! My students are going to love this!
Looking for a fun way to teach about the states? The Travel the Great States Deluxe Edition Activity Zone Workbook is packed with crosswords, games, word searches, codes, and more that will motivate your child to explore the history and geography of the United States. The elementary school workbook also has pages for Canada, Mexico, and Washington, D.C. Along the way, cities, highways and national parks are some of the highlighted features. How many letters does the Hawaiian alphabet have? Where were ice cream cones first served? My students love books like this and I know they will enjoy this one.
