School is in full swing but what better investment in a child’s life over the holidays to stay focused then a tablet. The Little Scholar® Kids Learning Tablet from School Zone is the perfect tablet to prepare your little one for Pre-K through 1st grade. School Zone was created almost 40 years ago by educators, James Hoffman, Ed.D. and his wife Joan Hoffman, M.A. when they realized the need for at-home learning materials for parents. Parents should have an easy way to help support and supplement their children with learning outside of the classroom and reinforce what their child is already learning. They are now the leading seller in workbooks and flash cards for students from Pre-K to Sixth Grade. Now they continue to grow and go with children wherever they go. All of their software, downloads, workbooks and flash cards are all designed with children in mind and the way that they would learn. Little Scholar was introduced in 2013 and the tablet was a huge hit. School Zone has always updated all of their products as the standards and teaching methods have evolved. They have recently updated to take on the Common Core standards of learning. All of their workbooks have pages that are able to be removed and done as individual worksheets. The books are printed on recyclable paper and are printed with a soy-based ink. The products are friendly for parents with children wanting to learn and also for the environment. Make sure to visit them on their website and social media to find the perfect products for you and to of course check out this awesome interactive tablet that is a great way for your child to have fun learning.

School Zone are the workbooks that we all worked in at home when we were kids. They have now gone digital with over 150 apps, videos, songs and books for your child to enjoy. They will be having so much fun on this tablet that they will forget that they are even supposed to be learning in the process. For parents, there is even a reporting app that will track your child’s progress and guide you for what their strengths and weaknesses are so that you can focus on those areas more then the others. School Zone is definitely the expert when it comes to early education and your child learning valuable information that will help them to succeed. We also know how destructive kids can be without meaning to be, so School Zone will even give you a free protective bumper with the tablet. Your child will be getting ready for school or just simply reinforcing things that they have already been learning with the tablet that is built for success. Whether your child is in Pre-K, Kindergarten or the First Grade, they will enjoy all of the preloaded apps that the Kids Learning Tablet has to offer. All of the activities are animated and will grab your child’s attention. One of the features that I absolutely love is that when your child is doing well on the tablet there is audio praise for them. Every child likes to be recognized when they do something right or good, so the praise feature in the app makes even me smile when I hear it. All of the apps combine play and creativity with the learning exercises. You will be able to enhance your child’s math, reading, spelling and other skills with the Little Scholar Tablet.

Charlie & Company™ is a new video series that is also educational that has live action and animation along with it. Charlie the Golden Retriever is the star of this app along with his very best friend, Miss Ellie. The two of them go on adventures that your child will absolutely love. The best part is that even though this is a video series, it is still educational. The music is also wonderful and features the performances by Brian Vander Ark of The Verve Pipe. Check out what Charlie & Company is all about here. Another awesome program that is available is the Start-to-Read app. Reading is a very important skill to have in life and this app is perfect to help your little reader get a headstart. Schools have really picked up the criteria for the words and reading level that your child needs to be able to recognize in the early years of school. I honestly can not remember having to read some of the books that they are right now in the schools between ages 4 and 7 these days. The Start-to-Read program was developed by educator Dr. James Hoffman. There is lots of creativity and colorful characters that your children will fall in love with while learning to read. The stories are also memorable to little ones, so they will be asking to read them again and again. The themes that the stories are about will also make parents thrilled that their child is learning to read but also learning life lessons along the way. These are three-level series so they are meant to build a foundation for your child as they move up. reading can be fun and your child will want to do it as they get older if you get them started early. Take a look at what the Start-to-read program is all about here. As I mentioned before there are also songs that your child will love to sing along with that are by Brian Vander Ark. There are 87 tunes that are all originals! Your road trips and time in the car will never be the same again with all of these songs to listen to and have fun singing together. Parents may not realize that kids memorizing the words to a song is actually using their noggin and is super beneficial for memorization skills. Take a listen to a snippet of what these songs are like here. Another fun add-on is the camera! You can take pictures with the rear and front-facing camera. Kids will love it because you can put special effects on them and save them to a gallery.

Now it is time to talk about everything that parents need to know about the tablet for YOU! There are password-protected parental controls so that there is no need for you to be right over top of your child as they play and learn on the Little Scholar tablet. This password-protected section includes an app management feature, a device setting for accessing your Wi-Fi network, and there is also an app store that is customized and allows for additional downloads. As parents we have the control over customizing which apps, music and e-books are seen and active by your little one while they are on the tablet. This feature allows you to tailor which apps and things are appropriate for your child’s learning style and level. With there not being so much on the tablet at once your child will not feel overwhelmed and can focus on what is appropriate for their age and skill level.

The A+ Report Card App will let you view graphs and reports of the activity that your child has been involved in for each of the Little Scholar programs. You will be able to track where the help is needed the most. Parents, you may also want to download apps that are non-School Zone on to the Little Scholar. Can you do that? ABSOLUTELY! In the School Zone Market, it is easy to download content to the tablet. School Zone has made an Android-based School Zone Market that is built into the password protected parent section. Monitoring of what apps are downloaded is available for you at your fingertips. And on to the part that really has us worried as parents about tablets and children. the combination can be lethal but the bumper that is provided for you is brightly colored and designed like the bumper on a car to protect the tablet from everyday bumps, drops, tumbles…you name it.
