Little Scholar® is a tablet from School Zone (leading educational kids publisher) and is jam packed with 150 educational apps(including videos, songs and e-books), valued at nearly $400 worth of FREE content. Little Scholar provides its users with lessons based on all of the “core curriculum” subjects for preschoolers, kindergartners, and first graders, including math, reading, spelling, logic, creativity, and geography. Parents can even use an app management tool to choose the apps, music, and e-books that are active on Little Scholar, so they can tailor the content to fit the learning needs of their children. Little Scholar was made for kids 3-7 and features an 8-inch screen and runs a Google Android™ 4.2.2 operating system.

My Thoughts

The Little Scholar from School Zone is a tablet designed just for kids and it would make a great gift for boys and girls of all ages this holiday season. It does pretty much everything an adult tablet can do, but it was designed with kids in mind. It has a built in camera. It also comes with tons of fun apps, books, songs, and videos already downloaded. There are so many games, you'd pay close to $400 if you paid for them individually. All of these games and activities are ready to play as soon as you open the box. You don't need to download anything and you don't even need a Wi-fi connection, though you can choose to download new content if you want to.

Just some of the learning apps in the lineup include Fraction Attraction, Charlie & Company™ (a fun series about a lovable golden retriever) and Napoleon Bone Apart, a fun science app. You can even track their progress and guide their learning by introducing new apps on their level. I really loved the diversity of the games. There were learning games my three-year-old daughter can enjoy and just as many for my eleven-year-old son.

I've tried out a lot of tablets in the last year. Most of the time, they each have their own pros and cons, making it difficult to find one that is a perfect match for my diverse family. I have four children, ranging from two through eleven and they all want time on this tablet. This one works great for everyone. I love that you can get it with the protective cover. With young children involved, you know it's going to get dropped, and this gives the tablet an extra layer of protection. The touch screen works great whether with a stylus or just a finger. It's not oversensitive. My kids love everything about the Little Scholar and I've seen an improvement in both their math and reading skills. The only issue I have is getting them to put it down!
