From Anita Delaney | Reference Librarian, Palo Alto City Library:
A Tablet Just for Kids!
We now live in a world filled with apps for our computers and smart phones. When the Palo Alto City Library looked into a replacement for their juvenile CD-ROM collection, the Library decided to buy 10 Little Scholar Tablets and pilot them at the Children’s Library for the public to check-out. Michele at School Zone helped to expedite the order. She was also very supportive when the Library encountered technical questions. The tablet comes preloaded with over 150 apps, along with eBooks, songs and videos. The targeted age is: kids from 3 to 9 years old. The tablet is easy to use with lots of age appropriate activities. The screen is fully touch interactive. The Library bought bright orange carrying cases. With the tablet nestled inside, it almost screams, “Play with me!” Recently at a Library focus group, a grandmother said to her grandchild, “Is that fun? These are really cool!”
