From Mama Cheaps:

STEM gifts are all the rage this year and for good reason! S.T.E.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education and I love how many game and toy companies are starting to shift their product lines to offer gifts that promote STEM. We picked out some of our very favorite gift ideas that promote STEM learning with kids!

VTech Kidizoom Action Cam (Ages 4+ MSRP $59.99)

Kids can now have their very own action cam, not unlike a GoPro or other sports cam, in a nearly indestructible package. Check out our in-depth review of the Kidizoom Action Cam to learn a whole lot about it AND to see some of the pictures and videos that Lily shot with it. This camera takes still pictures, video and has some games on it as well. Add a microSD card to expand the internal memory. Included in the package are a wrist strap, waterproof case and several mounts including a helmet and bike mount. One of Lily’s very favorite things about this camera was getting to take it in the pool and ocean!

Educational Insights Design and Drill Flower Power Studio (Ages 3+ MRSP $32.99)

Bright and colorful, kids will love playing with this fun building set. Take the toy drill (nice and chunky for small hands to grip with ease) and drill designer plates and bolts into all sorts of colorful designs and patterns. Kids can follow the included patterns or create their own masterpieces. We love how all of the pieces store inside the flower board making it easy to store and a great toy for traveling.

GoldieBlox and The Spinning Machine (Ages 6+ MSRP $29.99)

We have loved the concept behind GoldieBlox since we first laid eyes on their commercial set to a Beastie Boys song showing girls who used toys to build a massive Rube Goldberg machine. There are now several themed sets of GoldieBlox on the market, though one of our favorites was their first, GoldieBlox and The Spinning Machine. The set comes with a story book that outlines a project that needs solving, featuring Goldie, kid inventor. Kids use the storyline to build a working contraption with the included pieces.

Little Scholar Tablet from School Zone (Ages 3+ MSRP $129.99)

Make sure you read our in-depth review of the Little Scholar Tablet to see a whole bunch of details. In a nutshell, Little Scholar is a tablet geared towards 3-7 year olds and operates on the Android operating system. It comes pre-loaded with over 200 educational apps, videos, songs and more. The tablet has Wi-Fi, parental controls, a front and rear camera and more!

Educational Insights Geosafari Jr. Jungle Crew Lab Set (Ages 3+ MSRP $29.99)

Now even the youngest kiddo can be a scientist! We love this fun set from Educational Insights because it is designed specifically for the preschool crowd. Featuring colorful animal-themed pieces, kids can perform basic science experiments, practice measuring and more. Included in this set are a large lion and small cub test tubes with pour-spout mouths, rhino flask, elephant funnel, hippo tongs and monkey dropper (6 pieces total).

Perfect Bake App-Controlled Smart Baking (Adult Supervision Required MSRP $49.99)

Forget the traditional measuring cups and spoons – you won’t need them with Perfect Bake. This app-controlled baking set is easy and really fun to use! Use the free app to choose from a database of hundreds of recipes. Calibrate the included scale to your smart device and the app will walk you step-by-step through the recipe. Lily and I baked up some cookies with Perfect Bake and they were delicious!
