Like many parents, I have a ton of educational apps and games installed on my phone and tablet. As a former teacher, I do a lot of hands on learning with my kids, but they do love the fun that comes along with a great app. Still, the situation doesn’t work for our family. I’m reluctant to hand over my pricey tablet to preschool twins or a five year old and there’s always the concern they’ll access something they’re not supposed to. The answer seemed easy enough – tablets for kids, but we’ve been very disappointed with the products we currently have. Our kids lost cartridges, the kids lost interest or we had to pay a ridiculous amount for even more apps.
So, when I was sent The Little Scholar to review, I wasn’t sure if it was just another tablet for kids. Let me assure you – it is not. This is, quite simply, the best tablet for kids out there.
Little Scholar tablet from SchoolZone (leading educational kids publisher) is jam packed with 150 educational apps(including videos, songs and e-books), valued at nearly $400 worth of FREE content. Little Scholar provides its users with lessons based on all of the “core curriculum” subjects for preschoolers, kindergartners, and first graders, including math, reading, spelling, logic, creativity, and geography. Parents can even use an App management tool to choose the apps, music, and e-books that are active on Little Scholar, so they can tailor the content to fit the learning needs of their children. Little Scholar was made for kids 3-7 and features an 8-inch screen and runs a Google Android™ 4.2.2 operating system.
You read that right – 150 educational apps, games, videos, lessons- PRELOADED and it’s all based on the core curriculum content that we all want our kids immersed in for school. What I loved most about this tablet was the ease of use. Literally, just take it out of the box, turn it on and go. Everything is already there – ready to go. No downloading, buying more apps, or setting anything up. It couldn’t be easier to use.
Other Features: Science apps, learn to read books, artistic apps, and a live action series. Best of all, NO WIFI is required to use this tablet. My son takes it everywhere and is able to seamlessly enjoy learning wherever we go.
The display of this 8″ screen is amazing – with a bright, crisp image and colorful design. It also features a camera, rear and forward facing, an HDMI Port, Headphone jack, and SD Card Slot. It’s everything that you could need – made for kids.
You can select from Pre-K content, K or 1st grade – and then from a variety of games, lessons and activities. I love that my son, at 5, can benefit from this, but so can my younger preschool daughters. This is truly a toy that will grow with a child or can be shared between different aged children. I absolutely recommend this tablet for anyone with a child from preschool years, all the way up to 1st/2nd grade.
My kids love it – and the parent report card app lets me track how they’re doing on skills. It’s child friendly, easy to use, and interesting for young learners!
