A Children's Book and Product Review Blog
Summer is officially here, and the kids are ready to have some fun. When my children need a break from the sun, I love to turn to School Zone products for a little educational fun. School Zone offers a wide variety of educational products for different ages. You will find a long list of apps, books, software, flash cards, activities and workbooks available online at School Zone. These products are made for different skill levels ranging from preschool-aged children all the way up to the 6th grade level. School Zone products are a great way to keep school-aged children’s learning skills sharp during summer break as well as prepare younger children for their first year. The School Zone Early Reading Program was created to help children develop their vocabulary and reading skills. School Zone Start To Read! Early Reading Program Level 2 Readers set is geared toward children 5-7 years of age. This Start To Read! set includes 5 beginning reader books, comprehension book, parent guide, and read-along and songs CD. My son loves the songs. This three-step program begins with the audio CD that reads the stories to the children while they follow along in their books. After listening to the stories, children should be encouraged to read the stories aloud. The third and final step is the review. The comprehension pages are a great tool to help your child understand the story and retain the information. This School Zone Start To Read! set is a great way to get young children interested in reading. The three steps encourage children to be independent in developing their readings skills.
Bedtime Alphabet Flash Cards are one of the most fun and unique approaches to learning the alphabet I have ever seen. This set includes 32 cards and a flashlight, so your child can explore the alphabet in a whole new way. The Bedtime Alphabet Flash Cards are super fun and definitely not limited to bedtime. Each card has three stencils that allow your child to project the images with the help of the flashlight. These stencils also make it possible for your child to trace the images onto paper to create pictures. My son loves these flash cards. I cannot tell you how many times I have walked by our pantry door in the kitchen only to hear a little voice talking about the letters of the alphabet. I will open the pantry door to find my 5-year-old holding a flash card and shining his little flash light to create images on the wall.
All of the Bedtime Alphabet Flash Cards are two-sided. One side is a solid color and has short words spelled out on it to identify the images cut out on the card. This side is a great way to practice spelling and reading small words. The other side of the card serves as a puzzle piece. This side of the card has a portion of an image printed on it and can be combined with other cards to create one large picture. As you can see, there are several different ways your child can use and play with the Bedtime Alphabet Flash Cards. These cards are intended for children ages 3-6; however, my 2-year-old enjoys these flash cards almost as much as his big brother.
