Two New Products Win Top Awards

(July 15, 2013) — School Zone Publishing announced that Creative Child Magazine, a national publication providing parents with the latest information on how to nurture their child's creativity, has honored two School Zone products with top awards.

Bedtime Alphabet Night-Time Learning, Interactive Flash Cards received Kids Product of The Year Award in the Interactive Flash Cards category, and I Like to Paint Letters, Numbers, and Shapes received Top App Award in the Painting Apps category.

Barbara Peacock, managing director at School Zone, said, “We are delighted that Creative Child Magazine has recognized products in both digital and print formats. We are really proud of these new products, as they offer kids variety and learning opportunities, which is always our goal. ”

The Bedtime Alphabet Night-Time Learning flash cards are designed to make learning fun by night and day. In a new twist on traditional shadow play, kids and parents use a mini flashlight included in the package to shine light through cutouts, and then watch uppercase letters and shapes dance on floors, walls, and ceilings. Each card also offers three unique stencils to encourage drawing and writing activities. In addition, kids can trace and color letters and images to make alphabet pictures or even story books by adding their own words, drawings and fancy covers. Flipping the cards over reveals pieces to six different puzzles.

With the I Like to Paint app, preschoolers and kindergarteners can choose one of 16 pictures to “paint” from each of five image galleries: Mammals, Nature, Favorite Food, Fun Characters, and Things That Go. A free “lite” version offers four images in one gallery. Little ones pick an image, and then select Paint by Letters, Paint by Numbers, or Paint by Shapes. Next they touch the color displaying a number, letter, or shape inside it, and touch the image area with the matching symbol to paint it. The app includes reinforcing feedback, and kids can save up to 320 images, then share them by e-mail and on Facebook.

“We love it when parents who fondly remember using School Zone products when they were young, discover that we continue to offer excellent and updated workbooks and flash cards, but that we also produce beautiful, e-learning products for their children,” Peacock said.
