GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (September 19, 2013) — School Zone Publishing announced that Bedtime Alphabet Night-Time Learning Flash Cards received a Teachers’ Choice Award for the Family from Learning Magazine. The publication is a quarterly print and online buyer’s guide for pre-school through grade 6 teachers, reaching more than 150,000 educators looking for the newest products for their classrooms.

Bedtime Alphabet Night-Time Learning Flash Cards are designed to make learning fun by night and day. By night, in a new twist on traditional shadow-play, kids and parents use a mini flashlight included in the package to shine light through cutouts, then watch uppercase letters and shapes dance on floors, walls, and ceilings. By day, each card offers three unique stencils to encourage drawing and writing activities. In addition, kids can trace and color letters and images to make alphabet pictures or even story books by adding their own words, drawings and fancy covers. Flipping the cards over reveals pieces to six different puzzles. Other activities include arranging in alphabetical order or spelling out short words such as C-A-T. The cards offer hours of creative play, while building reading readiness and problem-solving skills.

Barbara Peacock, managing director of School Zone, said, “We are extremely pleased that Learning Magazine and its team of teachers, has recognized this innovative product. We design and develop all our products in collaboration with educators, so this recognition affirms our process. Bedtime Alphabet Night-Time Learning Flash Cards are one of our newest and most popular offerings. These cards deliver both play and learning—and a great opportunity for parent-child interaction—at a very affordable price.”

In 1994, Learning Magazine introduced the first Teachers’ Choice Awards program. Over the years, the program has grown to become one of the most recognized and prestigious awards in the educational market. The publication launched the Family program in 2004 to meet the needs of companies whose educational products work in the home environment. It is the only awards program that is exclusively judged by teachers in the classroom, based on quality, instructional value, ease of use, and innovation. For the 10th annual Family program, 24 winners were chosen based on their scores from the evaluations done by a panel of teachers across the country.
