In this Read Me document, you will find the following:

Directions for the Activities & Software:  
  Introduction: 
  This software uses a variety of methods to review, teach, and reinforce preschool skills. Type your name, and then click OK. The Preschool Barnyard has characters behind each of the doors. A character appears when you click on a door. You can try a dot-to-dot activity by clicking the top green doors. Delilah Duck will introduce you to the activity. The purple window opens to reveal a joke-telling Fancy Filly. Each time you click the window, you will hear a different joke. Click the mailbox to see a funny animation. Garrison Goat behind the yellow-orange door will take you to the movie theater. Click the purple silo door to meet Rodney T. Rooster and enter the art studio. Or click the red barn doors to find Sherman Sheep, who will take you to play an educational game.
  Ending an Activity:
  After completing a game, movie, dot-to-dot, coloring screen or artwork, click the blue exit arrow to return to the outside of the Preschool Barnyard.
  Completing the Software: 
  To exit the program, click the blue arrow on the Preschool Barnyard. You will be asked if you are sure that you want to exit. Click the arrow again to exit.
 
Dot-to-Dots:  
  Introduction: 
  To try a dot-to-dot activity, click the top green doors on the Preschool Barnyard. Delilah Duck will take you to the activity. To exit the dot-to-dot activity section, click the blue arrow.
  Selecting a Dot-to-Dot: 
  There are arrows at the bottom of each dot-to-dot screen. Click the right arrow to go to the next screen. Click the left arrow to go to the previous screen. There are 10 dot-to-dot screens. The activity will automatically number the dots. Click the “ABC” button to see uppercase alphabet letters next to each dot. Click the “abc” button to see lowercase alphabet letters next to each dot.
  Completing a Dot-to-Dot: 
  Click the blinking red dot to begin, and then click the dots in ABC or 123 order to complete the picture. When the picture is completed, the image will animate.
 
Movies:  
  Introduction: 
  Click the yellow-orange door on the Preschool Barnyard to watch movies. Garrison Goat will take you to the movie theater. The movie choices will change as you watch the screen. Choose from 12 different movies. To exit the movie section, click the blue arrow.
  Watching a Movie: 
  Click the picture of the movie that you would like to see. The movie will play in color and with sound. To exit the movie, click your mouse or hit any key.
 
Educational Games:  
  Introduction: 
  Click the red barn doors to play an educational game. Sherman Sheep will introduce you to the game. You can hear an instruction for the game by clicking on the question mark. The game will automatically become more difficult the more often it is played. You can also move the horseshoe to a higher number to increase the game’s difficulty level. Each time the game is played, its content will randomly shuffle between letter recognition and beginning sounds, counting, does it belong, shapes, colors, and following directions. To exit the game section, click the blue arrow.
  Letter Recognition and Beginning Sounds: 
  In this game, players match letters or pictures that have the same beginning sound. Look at the letter or picture in the white box, and then move the matching picture or letter from the barn to the empty space on the other side of the hay.
  Counting: 
  In this game, players match a number or a group of objects that show the same amount. Look at the number or group of objects in the white box, and then move the matching number or group of objects from the barn to the empty space on the other side of the hay.
  Does It Belong: 
  In this game, players match a picture with another picture that belongs, or match a picture with another picture that does not belong. Look at the picture in the white box, and listen carefully to the audio directions. Then move the picture that is the correct answer to the empty space on the other side of the hay.
  Shapes: 
  In this game, players match shapes. Look at the shape in the white box, and then move the matching shape from the barn to the empty space on the other side of the hay.
  Colors: 
  In this game, players match crayon colors with the colors of objects. Look at the crayon color in the white box, and then move the object with the matching color from the barn to the empty space on the other side of the hay.
  Following Directions: 
  In this game, players follow audio directions to count, classify, and match objects. Listen carefully to the audio directions. Then move the pictures in the barn that are the correct answers to the empty space on the other side of the hay.
 
Art Studio:  
  Introduction: 
  Click the purple silo door to enter the Art Studio. Rodney T. Rooster will introduce you to the art studio. Click the two bears in the green frame to use the coloring book. Click the drawing in the purple frame to draw and paint. To exit the Art Studio, click the blue arrow.
  Selecting a Coloring Book Screen: 
  There are arrows at the bottom of each coloring screen. Click the right arrow to go to the next screen. Click the left arrow to go to the previous screen. There are 15 coloring screens, each representing a different letter of the alphabet. The art supplies are at the bottom of the screen. To paint, click the paintbrush, and then click a color. Next, click the area that you want to paint. To fill an area with a pattern, click the roller, and then click a pattern. Next, click the area that you want to fill with a pattern. Erase the last color or pattern by clicking the spiral circle. Use the soap bottle to erase all of the colors.
  Draw and Paint: 
  The art supplies are at the bottom of the screen. Click the pencil to draw a picture. To make a shape, click the stamp tool, and then click a shape. Next, click where you want the shape to appear. Press any key to rotate the shape. To paint, click the paintbrush, and then click a color. Next, click the area that you want to paint. To fill an area with a pattern, click the roller, and then click a pattern. Next, click the area that you want to fill with a pattern. Erase the last color or pattern by clicking the spiral circle. Use the soap bottle to erase all of the colors.
  Printing Screens: 
  Click the printer to print the current screen.
